The ChatPC-4 is a rugged device that is designed to withstand even the most active lifestyle. Integrated within the ChatPC-4 is an industrial PocketPC computer. The unit is further ruggedized by a protective rubber housing, available in blue or black.

The ChatPC-4 has several options for mounting and transport. Inserts on the back accommodate a wheelchair mounting plate. Loops at the bottom of the unit accommodate a carrying strap. The protective screen protector also serves as a convenient stand for the ChatPC-4.

ChatPC-4 includes thousands of symbols. PCS are standard symbols for ChatPC-4. Installed vocabulary programs include PalmChat, VocabPC, Spelling, 16 Primary and 16 Basic.

ChatPC-4™ provides both digitized (recorded) and synthesized (computer generated) speech. A choice between voice synthesizers allows the speech output to meet the needs and lifestyle of the individual. NeoSpeech offers high quality voice synthesis in American English. DecTalk offers American English adult and a child's voices option. Loquendo provides speech synthesis in a number of different languages.

The Plus models are designed for individuals with existing or emerging literacy skills. In addition to all of the features of the Standard models, Plus models come with 10,000, 30,000 and 60,000 word dictionaries.

Numerous keyboard pages with and without spelling prediction are included in the pre-stored vocabulary files.

Plus models also include abbreviation-expansion, a feature that allows you to encode a word, phrase or sentence under a short sequence of letters. Plus models also provide the capability to load and save text files.
