Switch Filter

Learning and teaching switch skills to children with special needs will now be a little easier because of the Switch Filter. Especially for those children who need to overcome a tendency towards multiple switch “bashes” or “banging” either deliberately or through lack of motor control.

The Switch Filter works by letting the first switch press operate a connected device e.g. an adapted toy but then introduces a delay before the next switch press does anything.

For example, the child's first switch press passes through the filter and turns on the toy. But a second press or multiple switch "banging" would do nothing until the delay period, set by the filter, had passed.

The delay period is easily changed from long (~10secs) to short (~2secs) by plugging the input switch into one of the three sockets on the front panel. The connected device e.g. toy is connected to the socket on the side panel using the lead included with the Switch Filter.

The kit is supplied with the Switch Filter, a 3.5mm jack plug to plug connecting cable and 9 volt battery.
