LAMP Words For Life

The LAMP Words for Life® language system is designed for people with autism and developmental disabilities learning to communicate with AAC. It combines the power of the Unity® language system with Language Acquisition through Motor Planning (LAMP™) principles and strategies.

Available:
The LAMP Words for Life program is appropriate for a wide range of individuals, from those just beginning to communicate to those with advanced language skills. Throughout the language learning process, the motor patterns used to say words remain consistent to allow for the development of quick and easy communication.

System Overview:
• Key options – 84
• Easy access to core vocabulary and nouns
• One unique and consistent motor plan for each word
• Three vocabulary levels:
• 1-hit – 84 early words that speak immediately when selected.
• Transition – about 200 frequently occurring words with an introduction to verb tensing. Most words require selecting two keys before a word is spoken.
• Full – access to thousands of words by selecting three keys
LAMP Words for Life – VI (for Visually Impaired)
When speech and vision are an issue, LAMP Words for Life – VI builds on the LAMP methodology of one consistent and unique motor plan for each word in the LAMP Words for Life language system – adapted and used by those with vision and communication challenges. The combination of the LAMP approach, along with the Tactile KeyGuide on an SGD and the high-contrast screen gives children with visual impairments a much more efficient communication system to help them express themselves and
expand their language.

• An optional tactile KeyGuide is available for the Accent 1000
• Only available on Accent devices
Overview:
• High-contrast Minspeak icons with less detail and fewer colors set on a black background.
• Simplified motor patterns.
• Words learned at the one-hit level become double hits on the same button, eliminating tactile search.
• Blank corners provide a reference point for customization.
